Historical Significance
Biruté Galdikas has made a huge impact on the study of apes. She is known to be along the ranks of Jane Goodall and Diane Fossey for her contribution to anthropology and primatology. She has been featured in many magazines and articles such as the National Geographic Magazine and The New York Times. She will forever be remembered as a driven, dedicated woman who went against all types of criticism to do what she loved. She has dedicated her life to the study and protection of orangutans, something she will always be admired for.
